  • Features

Color and aroma

Naturally dark honey with a hint of caramel. Delicately resinous on the nose, with notes of caramel, dried fruit and herbs. Balanced in the mouth, less sweet than floral honeys, with a lingering forest aftertaste.

Origin and formation

Hojev honey is produced from the honeydew of fir trees in the forests of Pohorje. Bees collect the sweet honeydew from conifers and turn it into honey with a distinctive character in the hive.

Crystallization

Hoj honey usually crystallizes more slowly. If you want to liquefy the honey, place the jar in a warm water bath up to 40 °C and stir occasionally.

Tips for use and storage

• Use it in lukewarm drinks, not hot ones.
• In the kitchen, it goes well with cheeses, nuts, wholesome desserts and marinades.
• Store in a dark place at room temperature, tightly closed.

When the honeycomb says it all

A full and beautifully closed honeycomb is a sign of maturity . Bees close the cells only when the honey has matured with just the right water content . Our Hojev honey from Pohorje is produced from such honeycombs.

From the heart of Pohorje

It is produced in the higher forests of Pohorje, where bees collect honey from fir trees. A specialty of Slovenian beekeeping with a distinct character.
